Walter Squier Collection, 1833-1981.

Papers of the Squier family of southwestern Michigan include genealogical material; three World War I letters by Carl B. Squier from Texas and Oklahoma while training for the 90th United States Aero Squadron, 1917; clippings about Squier's military accomplishments and his Lockheed Aircraft career after the war. Obituaries and necrology lists of early southwestern Michigan pioneers, primarily from Berrien, Cass, Van Buren, St. Joseph, and Kalamazoo Counties. Photocopy of minute book of Volinia Township Board, Cass County, Michigan, 1833-1850. Papers of James Jennings include a xerox of A Story of the trials and experiences of James Jennings late of Co. K, 20th Illinois Infantry at Andersonville Prison during the Civil War, n.d.; photocopies of his military papers. Materials from Carillion Park, Dayton, Ohio, about the Wright brothers and aviation.

Squier, Carl B.

Carl B. Squier was an air pilot and aviation industry executive. He was licensed as a pilot in 1916 and served in World War I. In 1929 he took over Detroit Aircraft's subsidiary, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation. He became Lockheed's vice president in charge of sales, retiring in 1958. From the description of Carl B.
